Trinity's first Drive Thru Church, June 29-July 1, brought four distinct blessings:

(1) We were thrilled when 48 vehicles (with almost 100 individuals) stopped by for free coffee and donuts. Over three days, we handed out 74 cds and prayed over almost 50 specific requests.

(2) We estimate 750 vehicles drove by us each morning. It was heartening to be inundated by countless smiles, waves, cheerful honks, and enthusiastic thumbs up.

(3) We were amazed at the response of the local media. Trinity's Drive Thru Church got positive mentions on three local TV stations, two radio stations, the Dallas Morning News, and the Preston Hollow People.

(4) We were all excited to see over 20 parish volunteers turn out every morning at 6:45. Folks worked hard and pulled together. Matt Richardson spoke for many when he said that his favorite part of the DTC was actually getting to know fellow parishioners. People in the community noticed too. One passer-by actually did a u-turn to drive in and tell us that seeing such a diverse group of people pulling together inspired and moved her.

We plan to do more DTCs in the future. Watch for details!

The first day of Trinity's Drive Thru Church was, in the words of Benjamin Winn, "rocking awesome." We had about a dozen people stop by -- eleven people in cars and one on foot. That's about one every seven minutes. We also took 13 prayer requests which we have already lifted up to the Lord. Not bad for our first effort.

We learned a lot that should help tomorrow and with future DTCs, like using the brand names of the great donuts (Krispy Kreme) and coffee (Starbucks), concentrating our volunteers close together, and getting our folks to smile like they really mean it!

One of the most exciting things for me was the huge turnout of volunteers. I want to say thank you to the 26 members of Trinity who handed out coffee, donuts and sermon cds. Thanks too to the media. Check out the first news report by clicking on the Dallas Morning News link.
